Oh the joys of being sick

Lindsey told me that I need to blog some more but I've been sick so I didn't think you wanted to hear about it. She told to me blog anyway so I guess you get to hear all about the wonderful world of crud. Lots of green boogers and coughing.

I haven't been getting any better over the last week so I caved and went back to the doctor today. I have a sinus infection along with my crud. Joy. The bright side is, I can take antibiotics for the infection. Now I have some real drugs and I'm going to kick this crap in the butt. Hopefully. Leslie will be happy too, no more waking up in the middle of the night coughing up a lung, blowing my nose constantly and the germ level in our room can finally go down. I cleaned in there the other day but I'm going to have to go at it again.

Sciencewise, we haven't been able to do anything. The atmosphere above McMurdo shifted out of the polar vortex which means that there would be no point to send an instrument up there. We are outside the ozone hole currently and wouldn't get good measurements. So we wait until it shifts back. That means no balloon launches since Friday. I've been working on my own stuff and finally got some sort of result. About time, now and I figure out what it means and move on.
Mainbody started on Sat. A plane came in bringing lots of people for the main season. We watched it land from the library in the lab. It was pretty neat. It was the first plane since the beginning of Sept and was delayed 5 days. It was supposed to get here last Tues when I was at Happy Camper. Another plane came in the next day but yesterdays was delayed again. The weather has screwed up the plane schedule which are supposed to come every 3 days. We were hoping for some freshies but I haven't seen any yet. I want a banana real bad. Some salad would be great too. And sour cream. mmmmm

That means the station is way busier with lots of people to meet and be friendly to. I've been sick so I've lacked friendliness. I just cough on people instead. Just kidding but I do feel like snotting some people. Hopefully things will settle a bit and the galley won't be quite so packed all the time.

Lindsey also mentioned that I have been slacking on the weather updates lately. So for you Lindsey, here are the weather conditions. Its currently -7F with winds at 11 knots and wind chills of -27F. Its cloudy out today. Pretty much the same as any other day. We have been varying between -20 and about 10F above for the last week. It was pretty windy for a couple days which makes it not so nice. But I haven't really been outside at all with the being sick and stuff. I just cruise from one building to the next with no unnecessary travel between my bed and the galley. Eat, sleep, movies and work have been about it for me.

Well that about all I can squeeze out my brain right now. My face hurts so I'm going to take some more drugs and close my eyes for a bit. Good day all!
